Immigration law: residence, deportation and citizenship
Residence and work permits, challenging deportation orders and Turkish citizenship applications.
- Administrative cases
Last updated: · Av. Şeref Şahin
Immigration law covers entry into Turkey, residence, work and citizenship, and the administrative decisions made in these processes. Refused residence permits, deportation orders and administrative detention are the most urgent matters in this area.
The deadline to file a case against a deportation order is only seven days from notification. Communication with clients is possible in English, German, Russian and Arabic, so the process can be explained in their own language.

Common questions in this area
How long do I have to challenge a deportation order?
A case can be filed in the administrative court within seven days of notification of the deportation order. Except for the exceptions set out in the law, the foreigner is not deported while the filing period is running or once a case has been filed.
How can I object to administrative detention?
The detained foreigner or their lawyer can apply to the criminal judgeship of peace against the decision. The application does not suspend the detention; the judge reviews it promptly.
Can I get citizenship by marrying a Turkish citizen?
A foreigner who has been married to a Turkish citizen for at least three years, lives in the marital union and meets the other legal requirements can apply for citizenship. Marriage does not grant citizenship automatically.
Can a restriction code (entry ban) be lifted?
Once the decision behind the code is identified, you can apply to the authorities to have it lifted and, if necessary, file a case. The type and duration of the code determine which route to take.
